Among the activities carried out by the Nuns for their livelihood is the production of sweets and liqueurs.
From time immemorial the Nuns of San Ruggero have been a point of reference for the families of the city: they brought almonds and sugar and the nuns returned delicious pastries.
Someone continually tells us that as a child they came to collect the sweets ordered for the Easter and Christmas holidays from the wheel in the parlour. Someone also pleasantly told us that at a certain point they had noticed that the nuns were becoming elderly due to the increased caliber of sweet tarallini.
Unfortunately, the arrival of the sisters who currently make up the Community occurred when the expert pastry chefs were no longer there and had left unclear recipes both on the ingredients and above all on the production processes.
For all these products we ask for a free offer after indicating the commercial value of the package.
However, we have attempted to recover a confectionery tradition that is gradually finding appreciation among the population. We produce Pasta Reale biscuits (also called amaretti) of various types, dry pastries made from shortcrust pastry with or without almonds or dried fruit and some types of sweet tarallini.
We also produce martorana sweets according to the Palermitan recipe of the mother of one of us with which we make Easter sheep and flavored sweets.
The sweets are ready-made during holiday periods or can be ordered for events and also as wedding favors or place cards on special occasions such as graduations or ceremonies.
We also enjoy producing liqueurs, mainly Limoncello and limoncello cream, but also arancello and arancello cream, mandarinetto and liquorice liqueur, made mainly with citrus fruits from our garden.
